frequently asked questions
What is la truie?
la truie is a luxury, handcrafted skincare balm made with only a few intentionally selected, all-natural ingredients designed specifically for women over 40 with very dry skin. It’s designed to restore the skin barrier, lock in moisture, and bring back softer, smoother, glowing skin.
Why is porcine lard the main ingredient in la truie?
Lard has a fatty acid profile that closely resembles human sebum, the natural oils your skin produces. Because of this, it absorbs beautifully into the skin instead of simply sitting on top.
How is la truie different from tallow?
Beef tallow is richer in saturated fats and can feel heavier on the skin. Lard has a softer, more skin-similar composition that tends to absorb more easily and feel lighter.
What skin types is la truie good for?
la truie was created for women over 40 with dry, sensitive, compromised, and dehydrated skin. But, many other skin types enjoy it too, especially those looking for deep hydration from all-natural, simple ingredients.Â
Can I use la truie on my face?
Yes. la truie was designed specifically for facial skin, though many customers also use it on neck, chest, lips, under eye, hands, elbows, cuticles, and dry patches.
Can I use la truie with my retinol at night?Â
Yes! Apply your reitonol as instructed and apply a small layer of la truie over it to lock in moisture as you sleep.Â
Does la truie clog pores?
Everyone’s skin is different, but many people find la truie surprisingly breathable because of its compatibility with the skin’s natural oils. For people with oily/combination skin, la truie is not recommended for t-zone areas.
How do I use it?
A little goes a long way. Warm a pea sized amount between your fingertips and press into damp or freshly cleansed skin.
When should I use it?
For best results, la truie is used at night post-sun, post-flight, after swimming, after wind exposure, or anytime your skin feels depleted. For many this may be morning as well. la truie pro-tip: use over your persciption retinol to prevent moisture depletion and irritation. Read more
